A Journey Through Real Estate

I’ve been meaning to write this for some time.  It’s heavy, bare with me.  I recently met the ladies who run  San Mar Treatment Foster Care in Boonsboro at Brunswick’s First Friday’s event.  As many of you know, the idea of adoption has been weighing on my heart for some time, but right now is not the right time and we know it.  After talking to these ladies, I realized how great the need truly is and I wanted to share that with you.

There are a lot of misconceptions about foster care.  There is an enormous need for foster families right now.  There just aren’t enough to place all the children.  If you have kids, then it can be tricky to place a child (say they come from a sexual abuse situation, or have a mental disorder they are working to treat).  However, it doesn’t mean you can’t foster.  If you don’t have kids, and this is something you would consider, PLEASE do.  It’s a huge commitment.  It’s a sacrifice.  But it is so so so worth it for the future of our world.  Mother Teresa once said, “What can you do to promote world peace?  Go home and love your family.”  These kids don’t come from solid loving families.  They come from drug addictions, abuse, neglect, crisis situations ect.  And they desperately need a solid loving home while they are in transition.  Because the need for foster families is so great, many of these children return to their previous situations and it’s a terrible cycle.
